Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat

Ex-Chief Minister Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat was born in December 1960 in Khairasain village of Kotdwar tehsil. He is the ninth and youngest son in the family. He received a master's degree in journalism from the Birla campus in Srinagar and then from 1979 to 2002 he was a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In 2002, he was elected from Doiwala in the state's first Legislative Assembly election. He retained his seat in the 2007 elections and served as the state's agriculture minister. He also served as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in charge of Jharkhand and as chairman of the Uttarakhand cadre. In the year 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party won a thumping majority in the state and after winning the government from Doiwala in 2017, he was made the Chief Minister of the state.
